“The aim of the T&DT is to contribute to the achievement and capability of ATC personnel through the provisions of an efficient and effective training system”

BASIC is compulsory for all new Adult Staff Members (ASMs) with in their first six months of appointment. Wing policy extends this requirement to include all service instructors.

This course has three distinct aims:

1 To provide a basic understanding of ACO structure and Rules & Regulations.
2 To explain the expectations and standards of Adult Staff in the ACO
3 To provide useful information to help with Squadron level activities.

As a result of attending this course, ASMs will feel much more a part of the Corps, understand the Corps’ operation and their role within it and be a greater asset to their unit. Staff will learn about the structure of the Air Cadet Organisation (ACO) and the RAF, their duty of care, the basic requirement for discipline, equal opportunities, together with the Corps’ drugs and harassment policies.
