Course content is taken from and guided by the relevant Air Cadet Publications and includes subject areas such as:
- Squadron and Flight Drill Theory & Practical - Inspection of Uniform - Drill Method & Sequence (by numbers) - Qualities of a Drill Instructor - Role of the SNCO - Leadership Practical & Instruction - Problem Solving & Getting Things Done - Comms, Feedback & Behaviour - Working with Teams - Health & Safety - Protocols & Standards
Cadet Corporals and subsequent higher ranks may apply for the ANCO course and must have approval of their Commanding Officer before attending. It is strongly recommended that Cdts should have attended an Initial NCO Course (INCO) or similar before attempting this course as these two courses contain several common Training Objectives which are introduced in the INCO course and developed further in the ANCO course. If they have not attended such a course, Sqn Cdrs are to ensure that they are competent in the role of the JNCO as per ACP 20 A and have been in a Corporal post for at least 9 months prior to attendance.
